The System
- Guard Cable consist of three or four pre-stressed galvanised steel wire supported by galvanised steel bracket and posts at nominal 3.0m
- The steel wire will be fitted to the bracket using U-bolt and the fitted to the post
- The steel wire is joined and tension by means of rigging screws. The end of steel wire is attached to the end of the post/anchor ( special design post) embedded to the ground
- The method of mounting the post is to place it into the ground without the need for a concrete foundation for the median post which also depends on the site's condition.
- The Guard Cabel can be installed as long as the steel wire anchored at the length not exceeding 500 metres and a minimum length of 24 metres.
- The post height is based on the height of the strongest part of the average vehicle which is the same as guard rail height.
- The height of the post varies from 690mm to 710mm ( normally 705mm) from the ground level.
- The upper steel wire is fixed at 600mm (± 10mm) and the lower steel wire 440mm (± 10mm) from the ground level.
- The median post piled directly into the ground with a minimum of 950mm depending on the site's condition.
- End post act as an anchor is embedded minimum 400mm into concrete foundation of 100mm2
- The post spacing normally used is 3.0metre. It is standardised spacing between used for installation purposed.
- In some location/sites where the special need or purposed the post can installed closed
- The minimum post spacing is 1.0 metre.
